Parikrma's Dream Team

Mumbai February 9, 2005: Bangalore based Parikrma Humanity Foundation today announced a list of well known sports personalities including Dhanraj Pillay, Ashwini Nachappa, Javagal Srinath, Venkatesh Prasad, Reeth Abraham, MM Somaya, Vandana Rao and Charu Sharma who are enthusiastically running the dream run at the Mumbai Marathon on behalf of Parikrma's children.

These athletes will represent the aspirations of the 480 under-served children coming from the streets and slums of Bangalore. By running for Parikrma, these athletes will provide inspiration to the children to dream higher and excel in their pursuit of becoming successful individuals.

Announcing his decision to support Parkrma's children, Dhanraj Pillay said,"I am very pleased that the Mumbai marathon has provided a forum for someone like me to show my support to these little children. I sincerely hope that Parikrma's children will grow up with sound knowledge and exposure that will make them responsible and good citizens of tomorrow."

Ashwini Nachappa, Venkatesh Prasad, Reeth Abraham and Charu Sharma too shared the same emotions. Interacting with the children at Parikrma Centre for Learning in Jayanagar, these sports personalities truly demonstrated the strong urge in them to bring about change in the society around them. Their desire to be catalysts in this process has resulted in them raising funds for Parikrma through the Mumbai marathon.

It was possible for Parikrma to put this dream team at the Marathon thanks to the generous support of Hindustan Petroleum. Their sponsorship has made it possible for Parikrma to get together this illustrious set of achievers in Indian sports to run for their children. Said Mr. Arun Balakrishnan, Director - Human Resources, Hindustan Petroleum, "we at HPCL have always supported people and organizations that work for providing equal opportunity to children. All of us at HPCL wish Parikrma the very best in their endeavour"

"By having these high achieving athletes running for Parikrma, we are letting our children know that they too can achieve far beyond what they think is possible - that they can excel and become successful individuals too. I thank each of these athletes for their support. Our participation in the Marathon would not have been possible without the support of Hindustan Petroleum. Their generosity will be remembered by us and all our children for a long time", said Shukla Bose, CEO of Parikrma.
