Volunteering
at Parikrma.
While the core of the programs
are delivered through full time employees of Parikrma,
there is ample opportunity to volunteer your time
in specific projects that will aid teachers in
school as well as provide support to the administrative
staff in office.
We depend on Volunteers to provide exposure to
the world for the Parikrma children. This is the
case for both Indian and International volunteers.
The diversity of the volunteers in terms of culture,
race, age, education, occupation provide the children
with invaluable life experiences. They really
do become children of the world.
Most importantly volunteers provide our children
with positive role models to aspire, that they
lack so severely because of the backgrounds they
come from.
Over the past two years we have had volunteers
coming from all parts of the world – USA,
Canada, UK, Spain, France, Netherlands, Australia,
Japan. Many volunteers are from Bangalore, where
the organization is based. These volunteers are
students, mothers, retirees and employees especially
from the IT industry.

International Volunteers
To experience urban India at the
grassroots, there is nothing like volunteering
with Parikrma. We work with 26 slum communities
and 850 of the poorest of the poor children in
Bangalore, India’s most modern city, where
more than 1.5 million people live in over 800
slum pockets.
Since we began in May 2003, we have had more than
100 international volunteers from across the globe.
They have gone away enriched by their experiences
and in many cases with vastly different perspectives
of life.
We have a Volunteering Section that coordinates
all efforts of the volunteers. Our endeavour is
to make your experience as meaningful to you as
possible and at the same time, beneficial to our
children.
Please do download the info pack, which will provide
you with a clear picture of what it is to volunteer
with Parikrma in Bangalore. Our previous international
volunteers have helped put this info pack together.

Indian
Volunteers
Volunteering at Parikrma
is ideal for Indians who feel disconnected with
India at its grassroots and feel that they are
equally responsible for the under-served population
in the country. We work with 26 slum communities
and 850 of the poorest of the poor children in
Bangalore, India’s most modern city, where
more than 1.5 million people live in over 800
slum pockets.
Since we began in May 2003, we have had over 200
volunteers from Bangalore as well as other parts
of the country. The volunteers have been aspiring
students themselves, doctors, artists, software
engineers but mostly those individuals who want
to make a difference in their country. These volunteers
continue to be great ambassadors and have gone
away with entirely different ideas of their home
country than they originally arrived with.
Our endeavour is to make your experience as meaningful
to you as possible and at the same is beneficial
to our children.
We would be delighted to hear from you. Do write
to us at volunteer@parikrmafoundation.org
