Volunteering
at Parikrma.
What do the volunteers have to say:
Ruth Darbyshire (Student - Glasgow
University): “the teachers here are very
good and make me feel at home and of course the
children are brilliant. In small groups they are
very easy to work with.”
Fiona McQullin (Student –
Glasgow University): “my experience with
Parikrma so far has been great. The staff are
very friendly and welcoming and the children are
all warm. It takes time to settle into new things.
I now have a timetable and I have a lot of fun
with my class especially when we go for swimming
classes together.”
Catriona Foster (Student –
Glasgow University): “working at Parikrma
is an extremely rewarding and fulfilling experience.
All the children are lovely, so happy and friendly,
and full of energy. Its wonderful when you see
them working so hard and learning new things and
to know that you are a part of this change.”
Yew Yoong (Indian Volunteer):
“it’s a great place to not just help
children learn but also to learn from them. Each
day I see different sides of the children and
it never gets mundane interacting with them.”
Tara Thomas (Volunteer from
the US): “I just wanted to drop quick note
thanking you for such a positive experience at
Parikrma. My time there is truly unforgettable
and after sharing my experiences with some of
my friends here, I think I have even made some
of them consider coming and working with Parikrma
in the future. During my month of involvement
at Parikrma, I had the opportunity to see the
volunteer program from a number of facets. From
familiarizing myself with the organization’s
publicity and educational materials, participating
in the volunteer experience as well as discussions
with Parikrma administrative staff, volunteers,
teachers, and students, I garnered an understanding
of the role that volunteers play in this thriving
new organization.”
Tulli (Volunteer & Child
sponsor): “The KPMG Athletic Meet, last
year must be one of my greatest experiences ever!
I would have loved to be there this year too!
But I'll surely be in the spirits and will keep
my thumbs up for all the lovely Parikrma Athletes!
They are the bravest children in the world and
Tuuli-akka knows that they're going to succeed
so so well!!!”
