ON WHEELS

PRANA on Wheels

These are difficult times and we are all facing an unprecedented crisis in the history of India. While Covid-19 continues to spread, and cities remain starved of resources like oxygen and ICU beds – the human lives lost to this catastrophe continues to overwhelm.

Lack of basic resources or timely administration of these resources continues to be one of the primary reasons for the mounting death toll. The ones impacted the most are the underprivileged and yet, the truly needy – who under extended lockdowns, are also out of jobs and are struggling for basic supplies.

But let’s not forget the unsung heroes – The effort and support of the healthcare workers, frontline workers and volunteers has been relentless and we have them to thank for every single life saved. Kudos to them.

One of the biggest challenges, currently, in this second wave is lack of resources and timely administration of aid to most patients. Most are succumbing due to lack of access to oxygen and ICU beds.

We have endeavoured to step up and reach out to those who have limited or no access to support right now. Parikrma Humanity Foundation and Indiassetz have come together and have launched the ‘Prana on Wheels’ initiative – Primary Roaming Augmented Neo-Medical Aid.

What does Prana on Wheels enable?

– Mobile ICU with oxygen support

– Modular ICU with oxygen support

– Free vaccination

In a one-of-its-kind model – the completely Mobile ICU will have 6 beds with oxygen support. The ICU will be equipped with all medical emergency supplies required for COVID patients until proper hospital capacity can be found for the patients if required later. The Modular ICU can have any number of beds as the space permits and will have Oxygen Support and it can be assembled and dis-assembled at any location catering to any number of beds.

Most families in the slums do not own cars and are facing hardships to be able to take their COVID19 positive family members to the hospitals. This beside the fact that, by the time they find beds – which currently (oxygen support ICU beds) are in shortage even to those that can afford, lives are being lost.

The Mobile ICUs ensure help is within reach, since it can be docked near the slums, and will be fully equipped to handle emergencies. Thus, saving lives of thousands of underprivileged, those currently lacking access to medical aid and support to get vaccinated.

Creating one set of a 6 bed Mobile ICU and a 25 bed Modular ICU will cost us circa USD 150K including one time and running cost for 6 months. The plan is to deploy atleast 10 such units. However our immediate objective is to deploy the first pilot unit by June 15th 2021. The faster we receive contributions, the faster we can deploy. Look forward to your support to save many lives.

Please Note

All the units will serve the communities, completely free of cost.

Starting June 30, we will release a Playbook of the model, to enable more groups of people to replicate the model and multiply the impact in Bangalore City and all COVID hot spots across India.
