Frequently Asked Questions

Basics

Q1. What benefits will my sponsored child receive?

  •  Your sponsorship ensures that a Parikrma child receives 360-degree support in breaking out of the cycle of poverty and living a meaningful life by providing the following:
  •  A quality education this means your contribution goes towards academic materials, uniforms, field trips, teacher salaries, etc.
  •  Nutrition through our partnership with the AkshayaPatra Foundation, we fulfill a child’s everyday nutritional needs by providing two meals and an evening nutritional supplement
  •  Healthcare we ensure our students stay healthy by providingimmunisations, health check-ups,and emergency medical interventions
  •  Community development we havecommunity development service teamswho keepstrac of the heartbeat of the community and link them with services such as family counseling, de-addiction programmes, health  workshops,    etc.

Q2. Will I be my child’s only sponsor?

  • Yes, you will be your child’s only sponsor. However, because not all children at our centres are individually sponsored, they will not be made aware of their sponsorship status because we do not want any child to feel left out.

Q3. Can I visit my child?

  • Of course! Feel free to visit any Parikrma centre or classroom, but as we explained in “Will I be my child’s only sponsor?” you will have to be discrete about your status as a sponsor.
  • To set up a visit, send an e-mail to our Resource Mobilisation Team at info@parikrmafoundation.org or call us at +91-80-23635225.

Q4. How long does my sponsorship last?

  • Your sponsorship lasts as long as you maintain your contributions and your child is a part of Parikrma. In our end-to-end model, we begin working with our children at the age of 5 until 25, or whenever they secure a job. You can sponsor them throughout school, and also contribute towards their higher education fund.
  • While we encourage continuity of donations, we understand that sponsors’ circumstances change and you can discontinue your sponsorship at any time if necessary

Q5. Can I send gifts to my child?

  • Please do not directly send monetary or in-kind gifts to a child or their family. If you wish to make a gift to the child, we appreciate something that can be shared with their class or the wider community. If you wish to consult us concerning a gift, please contact us at info@parikrmafoundation.org

Q6. What should I do if I am no longer able to sponsor a child?

  • If you are no longer able to sponsor a child for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible so we can begin to look for another sponsor.

Q7. What happens if my child leaves the program?

  • Although it is very rare that a child would leave Parikrma (we have a dropout rate of 1%), we will propose another student for you to sponsor. If you would prefer to select a student yourself, please let us know and we will send you a selection of child profiles.

Q8. Are there other ways to help? (Provide links)

  • Spread the word! We will send you press kits and postcards that you can send to friends and family
  • Participate in a matching grant programme
  • Propose the half-a-day programme to your company
  • Upgrade your contribution to a monthly donation
  • Volunteer with us

Q9. Why does it cost perhaps more to sponsor a child through Parikrma than another educational nonprofit?

  • Our mission is to break our children free from a cycle of poverty, and in order to do so, we need to provide holistic support. We are not just an educational institution -in addition to providing a quality education, we take care of a child’s nutritional needs, their health, and community development.
  • We also look at children as individuals and understand that they are unique individuals with unique needs, and at times, we need to cater to those needs
